it was opening day at kmart stadium...unfortunately kmart filed chapter 11 bankrupcy and now it's just called nash park. the scruff-man himself threw out the first pitch and we were underway. case "the great white height" mcclellan was making his ellington wiffleball debut, which nash made extremely unsuccessful en route to a personal milestone: 11 strikeouts. 6 came via case. scoreless through 2, a man named Deps came to the plate in the top of the third with a man on. Deps proceeded to bomb the first homerun of the season, which landed in the camero beyond the fence, giving his boys a 2-0 lead. making his comeback after two years off, steve pinto hit a bomb in the fifth inning that hit the top of the fence and bounced back into the park. nash was able to come around and score on the play, so it was a long fenway-style single for pinto, but they lead 3-0. nash was cruising through 5 until james guerin clobbered his first of four homers on the day. this was no ordinary homer, this was a grunting wicked far homer. is flew over the road and beaned his own wagon across the street. the hit closed the gap to just one, but nash settled down to strikeout case a couple more times and end the game with a 3-2 win.
